What is a sensor?
The sensor is a detection device that can feel the measured information, and can transform the felt information into an electrical signal or other required form of information output according to a certain law to meet the requirements of information transmission, processing, storage, display, recording and control. It is the primary link to realize automatic detection and automatic control.
The characteristics of the sensor include: miniaturization, digitalization, intelligence, multi-function, systematization and networking. The existence and development of sensors, so that the object has the sense of touch, taste and smell, so that the object slowly become alive.
There are many types of sensors, which are usually divided into the following categories according to their basic perception functions:
1. Thermal sensor: used to detect temperature, heat, etc.
2. Photosensitive elements: used to detect light, brightness, etc.
3. Gas sensor: used to detect gas concentration, composition, etc.
4. Force sensor: used to detect pressure, force, etc.
5. Magnetic sensor: used to detect magnetic field strength, direction, etc.
6. Humidity sensor: used to detect humidity and so on.
7. Acoustic sensor: used to detect sound, vibration, etc.
8. Radiation sensitive element: used to detect radiation intensity.
9. Color sensor: used to detect color, etc.
10. Taste sensor: used to detect taste, etc.
In addition, according to the working principle of the sensor, it can be divided into active and passive sensors, analog and digital sensors, active and passive sensors.
Active sensors are the types of sensors that generate output signals with the help of external excitation power sources, such as LVDT and strain gauges; Passive sensors can generate output signals without an external excitation power source, such as thermocouples.
